Steve Jobs stopped in Japan for possession of ninja stars !

Steve Jobs and ninja stars are unusual a pairing , but undoubtedly brilliant. According to a news magazine published by the Japanese SPA !, Jobs was stopped Kansai International Airport last July because the metal detector had been activated from his bag . Inside the briefcase were found of ninja stars , a family holiday in memory of Japanese land .

The security personnel prevented boarding Jobs on his private jet with potentially dangerous weapons . SPA ! Jobs said that he reasonably replied , stating that it had no intention to divert his private plane (as blame him ?) and no longer visited Japan.
The story, told by a tabloid , it certainly taken with the tongs , but seems to have been partially confirmed by a source. Takeshi Uno, a spokesman for Kansai Airport , said that a passenger has actually attempted boarding with " shuriken , "or the ninja stars , but it was locked. The spokesman can not disclose the identity of the passenger because of privacy regulations passengers, but said that the star has still had to throw away the unusual souvenirs.
Apple declined to comment about the affair. We propose again to open the image posted by FastCompany, very nice .

iPhone 4 soon in 6 new countries: small hardware changes coming?

According to head of Telcel, known Mexican carriers will soon sell the iPhone 4, the new Apple device will be launched in Mexico and five other countries with small hardware ny change.
According to his statement, Apple would have made subtle changes to hardware to clear the whole problem of low reception on the iPhone 4.
The new iPhone will be sold by Sept. 30, same date chosen by Apple to terminate the program "Bumper" which allows users to request a free care after buying the iPhone 4.
Could be a mere coincidence, but considering that the statements come from a leading exponent of a carrier who has entered into agreements with Apple, they should be taken into account.                                                                                                                       [via]

Rotating the iPhone 4 SpringBoard ? Judging from the SDK it did not look

For several days we are trying the latest release of the SDK Apple released in conjunction with the Golden Master IOS version 4. During use, we immediately noticed a detail that probably will not please those who have planned or are planning to buy the new iPhone 4. Many users have asked if this new device will be able to support the rotation of the springboard in landscape mode just like it does on iPad. Well, the answer seems to be negative.
Many of you, especially the more experienced, will know that within the package for developers, there are several useful applications including an iPhone or Sumulator. This tool makes it possible for developers to test their applications without necessarily having an iPhone-lift truck. Until the latest version of the new beta SDK, released before the WWDC 2010, included in the Hardware tab> Device two devices: an iPhone and iPad.
With the release of four new IOS 4 GM and after the official presentation of the iPhone, Apple decided to include in the simulator also the new device. Well, at first glance, we immediately noticed a small detail. In recent months there has been much talk of a possible new feature for our iPhone that should have been introduced with the new IOS 4: The rotation of the springboard in landscape mode.
This feature, however on this iPad, seems destined never to see the light on the current iPhone models and even the new iPhone 4. To confirm this, we present two screenshots taken directly from iPhone Simulator, which are shown in both the iPad is the new iPhone 4 rotated horizontally.
As you can see, the same mortgage, the iPad allows automatic adjustment of SpringBoard to landscape mode, unlike the iPhone 4 which you can not get the same result.
So, in conclusion, we are quite confident that the new model iPhone, like its predecessors, will not have this feature.

Germany: No more iPhone and BlackBerry German politicians

The German politicians can no longer use the iPhone or BlackBerry at work. The ban was caused by the numerous attacks on mobile networks and apparently, the Apple and RIM devices are not able to offer adequate protection.
Already on Wednesday last, the European Commission has banned 32,000 employees well, using the BlackBerry for business purposes. This prohibition has not yet hit the iPhone, which can be used again for a short time.
The mobile network used by the two devices in question is not considered secure enough. Indeed recently, Saudi Arabia has made some attacks on mobile RIM, coming to almost immediate decision to ban the use of BlackBerry.

FTC: investigation against Apple on the lack of Flash on Apple devices

The Cupertino company could soon be investigated by the FTC regarding the U.S. Apple will not support Adobe Flash Player on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. This could also be motivated by the fact that the FTC itself has refused access to Apple's over 200 pages of documentation against Apple presented by Adobe.
The FTC has justified this choice by stating that this could interfere with ongoing investigations and the situation much worse.:We have 189 pages of response, all exempt from FOIA disclosure request. These documents are exempt because it is reasonable to assume that disclosure of the documents would interfere with the conduct of the activities of the Board of Inquiry. We remember what he said in April CEO Steve Jobs:We've been through the adoption of intermediate layers between the platform and developer code to produce applications to end below the standards and hinder the progress of the platform.[...]If developers develop employees to third-party tools and libraries would benefit from improvements of the platform when they were taken by the third framework. We can not allow third parties to decide whether and when to provide our capabilities to developers. But because Apple does not want the Flash into the iPhone? Like Apple has repeatedly stated, the player of Adobe is not ready to be implemented in IOS, for reasons of security and overall performance (request esccessiva disproportionate consumption of resources and the battery). It also seems that other manufacturers of smartphones are giving reason to Apple. RIM, maker of BlackBerry, has decided to deprive the new BB 9800 Torch Flash, Palm also proved skeptical introduction of FL as a WebOS. Both companies, however, have clarified their positions, claiming to remain on good terms with Adobe. We'll see, but the matter seems to do nothing more than complicate it further.[Source]

US Courts : Jailbreaking and Unlocking are Legal

I know, you’re probably saying, “What? Jailbreaking was illegal?”. Well, no it wasn’t really illegal.

The actual act of opening your device to allow you to install what ever you want on it certainly not illegal, but will void your warranty. With over 6 million people jailbreaking their iDevices, it would seem the voiding the warranty is not really a concern.

Today, The WashingtonPost is reporting that a US court has ruled that it is not illegal to jailbreak the iPhone.
Owners of the iPhone will be able to legally break electronic locks on their devices in order to download software applications that haven’t been approved by Apple Inc., according to new government rules announced Monday.
The decision to allow the practice commonly known as “jailbreaking” is one of a handful of new exemptions from a 1998 federal law that prohibits people from bypassing technical measures that companies put on their products to prevent unauthorized uses. The Library of Congress, which oversees the Copyright Office, reviews and authorizes exemptions every three years to ensure that the law does not prevent certain non-infringing use of copyright-protected material.
In addition to jailbreaking, other exemptions announced Monday would:

* allow owners of used cell phones to break access controls on their phones in order to switch wireless carriers.
* allow people to break technical protections on video games to investigate or correct security flaws.
* allow college professors, film students and documentary filmmakers to break copy-protection measures on DVDs so they can embed clips for educational purposes, criticism, commentary and noncommercial videos.
* allow computer owners to bypass the need for external security devices called dongles if the dongle no longer works and cannot be replaced.

It is great to know, for sure, that the jailbreak community is safe from persecution, in the US. Although, this federal law has been in place since 1998, it has never been enforced by Apple. Now, they don’t have a choice but to just let it happen.
