Dev Team: jailbreak firmware 4.0.2? does not make any new changes


The Dev Team has recently updated his official blog posting a new article which takes stock of the situation regarding the new firmware 4.0.2 jailbreak, released by Apple a few weeks ago and in fact does not make any new changes to software iPhone than to go to fix the security flaw in Safari that allowed execution of code JailbreakMe. Many of you will be wondering "When will the new jailbreak for 4.0.2 firmware?". Well, this article found the answer.
 Here are the words of the official Dev Team comment on the situation of 4.0.2 jailbreak for IOS:

    Jailbreakme v2.0 was a great success, and was easy to use for Jailbreakers and unlockers that could be used on all devices with firmware 4.0.2/3.2.2 below. Who among you has saved its blob SHSH from Cydia, or who has saved locally, it will always be able to benefit from jailbreakme.com v2.0. Congratulations!

    Now, a couple of weeks, Apple has closed the exploit jailbreakme.com exploited by new devices and updated firmware 4.0.2/3.2.2 are waterproof. So now, people will begin to wonder: will there be a jailbreak for 4.0.2 IOS devices uprights, out-of-the-box (devices created with the latest firmware Apple)?

    No, there will be. Firmware 4.0.2 has been released only to fix the flaw exploited by JailbreakMe. With firmware 4.1 is still in beta that does not make sense to play "cat and mouse" with Apple to make that release updates to correct only exploits identified for the jailbreak. To cite WOPR, "the only winning move is not play."

    If the game of cat and mouse goes too fast, especially during periods of beta testing a new firmware does not benefit anyone but Apple. For this reason, there will be dedicated to jailbreak firmware 4.0.2 since in this period, this version is the latest to be published. At best, a future jailbreak for firmware 4.1 will be compatible with version 4.0.2 (but not counted).
If you have acquired an iPhone with firmware 4.0.2 pre-installed or you have mistakenly updated to this firmware without having saved the ecides, you just have to wait for public IOS 4.1 (note that Apple could take place concurrently event dedicated music products, set for Sept. 1) and developers of Dev Team can find an exploit (there are rumors that they already have several) to allow re-jailbreak the iPhone.

US Courts : Jailbreaking and Unlocking are Legal


I know, you’re probably saying, “What? Jailbreaking was illegal?”. Well, no it wasn’t really illegal.


The actual act of opening your device to allow you to install what ever you want on it certainly not illegal, but will void your warranty. With over 6 million people jailbreaking their iDevices, it would seem the voiding the warranty is not really a concern.


Today, The WashingtonPost is reporting that a US court has ruled that it is not illegal to jailbreak the iPhone.
Owners of the iPhone will be able to legally break electronic locks on their devices in order to download software applications that haven’t been approved by Apple Inc., according to new government rules announced Monday.
The decision to allow the practice commonly known as “jailbreaking” is one of a handful of new exemptions from a 1998 federal law that prohibits people from bypassing technical measures that companies put on their products to prevent unauthorized uses. The Library of Congress, which oversees the Copyright Office, reviews and authorizes exemptions every three years to ensure that the law does not prevent certain non-infringing use of copyright-protected material.
In addition to jailbreaking, other exemptions announced Monday would:


* allow owners of used cell phones to break access controls on their phones in order to switch wireless carriers.
* allow people to break technical protections on video games to investigate or correct security flaws.
* allow college professors, film students and documentary filmmakers to break copy-protection measures on DVDs so they can embed clips for educational purposes, criticism, commentary and noncommercial videos.
* allow computer owners to bypass the need for external security devices called dongles if the dongle no longer works and cannot be replaced.

    It is great to know, for sure, that the jailbreak community is safe from persecution, in the US. Although, this federal law has been in place since 1998, it has never been enforced by Apple. Now, they don’t have a choice but to just let it happen.

    MuscleNerd so near to Unlock iPhone 4


    Yeah, they are about to Unlock iPhone 4, MuscleNerd has just tweeted that he and Planetbeing are in Progress in iPhne 4 Unlock and may hit the web at any moment, they already got the bootrom of the iPhone 4 and compared it to the one of the iPhone 3GS.

    Congratulations, iPhone 4 has been Jailbroken


    MuscleNerd, Planetbeing, p0sixninja, and chpwn in help of Comex, All are back again to kick iPhone 4 with Jailbreak, it seems like "userland" Jailbreak taken from the newly Spirit Jailbreak tool update.     Oh, Even Jailbreak will be available soon but Unlock will not, Because iPhone 4 uses a new baseband which require rewrite of Ultrasn0w so Don't expect Unlock Soon!
    The DevTeam and others have been checking through the iPhone 4, and have noticed the baseband runs a completely different OS than on previous models. The iPhone 3G and 3G[S] both ran Nucleus OS on the PMB8878 baseband CPU (aka XGold 608), where the iPhone 2G ran the PMB8876 (aka S-Gold 2). iPhone 4 uses the PMB9800, or X-Gold 618 – running a separate OS – ThreadX, an RTOS by ExpressLogic.

    How to: Jailbreak iOS 4 Final Version on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G Using Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3


    iPhone Dev Team has just updated Redsn0w to bring support for the Final Version of iOS 4 for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. This update works on both Mac and Windows and make you able to Enable Multitasking which is disabled by Apple. Follow the Steps below to Jailbreak iOS 4 Final Release on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G.


    Redsn0w beta has been updated to hacktivate iOS 4.0 for iPhone3G (in addition to jailbreaking the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G).
    For now, the redsn0w beta release supports only the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G at today’s 4.0. It’s still a beta, so you’ll need to let Cydia reorganize, reload, and update after using redsn0w.
    Steps:
    Step 1: Download iOS 4 Final Version according to your Device from Here.
    Step 2: Update your Device Firmware using the latest iOS 4 you have Downloaded via iTunes 9.2
    Step 3: Download Redsn0w (Link at the end of Page) and Extract it, Then Open Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3 and Browse it to the Original Firmware

    Step 4: Select "Install Cydia" and choose the other features you need Including "Enable Multitasking" and "Enable homescreen wallpaper"

    Step 5: Now turn off you Device and plug it to your Computer using USB Then Click Next

    Step 6: In this Stage you will have to put your Device in DFU Mode by Following the instructions written in this stage
    Step 7: Now, Let Redsn0w do the rest, Then your iPhone or iPod Touch will be restarted and it will be Jailbroken on iOS 4.

    Now You will be Able to Unlock 05.13.04, 05.12.01 to 04.26.08 Basebands on iOS 4 Using Ultrasn0w 0.93 which was released today, Step by Step Guide posted here.

    iOS released Tommorow, Details Before Update


    Apple will push iOS 4 final version tomorrow on June 21st so I decided to write this article about the Final Version of iOS 4 for iPhone and iPod Touch, In this article I will be covering everything you need to know before updating to iOS 4 including Jailbreak, Device Support, Compatible Apps, iTunes, and More!

    iTunes Update?
    Apple has already pushed iTunes 9.2 for public for both Windows and Mac users, But the iPhone Dev Team advised us not to update iTunes to iTunes 9.2 version because you may can't jailbreak after the update.

    Jailbreak?
    Don't Update if you got a Jailbroken iPhone using Spirit, comex the developer of untethered Spirit Jailbreak tool for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad has tweeted advicing people not to Update to iTunes 9.2 (This means not to update iOS 4) if you already have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch.
    DO NOT UPDATE TO ITUNES 9.2 IF YOU ARE USING SPIRIT until I learn what's going on.
    But Don't forget that Dev Team will release Redsn0w 0.9.5 final version to Jailbreak iOS 4 tomorrow when it got released by Apple so I advice you not to update till they Release Redsn0w.


    Unlock?
    Oh, forgot about the Unlock, MuscleNerd a trusted person in the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that iOS 4 on both baseband 05.12 and 05.13 will be unlockable and probably on iPhone 4 Also! Just Keep around for the Guide about the Unlock whenever it's released.

    Apps?
    iOS 4 got a new amazing Feature which is Multitasking between Apps, So developers have to update their Apps for iOS 4 compatibility. If you are going to update to iOS 4 tomorrow then Make sure to update your Apps too.

    Backup and Save SHSH
    You decided to update, then don't forget to back up SHSH Blobs as Apple prevents you from downgrading unless you’ve got a backup of your personalized SHSH blobs. I already posted Full Step by Step guide to Save SHSH of iPhone 3.1.3 for Windows and Mac users, Guide posted here.

    Device Compatibility
    iOS 4 will be fully compatible with iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G but iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G won't get multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support as Apple maintains the hardware isn’t capable. But comex is working on making iOS 4 available on iPhone 3G and 2G Also! But bad new for iPad users, iOS 4 will not be compatible with iPad!!

    Blacksn0w RC2 to Unlock iOS 4 Released - [The Full Guide]


    Blacksn0w RC2 has just Released for iOS 4, this release is based on the original unlock tool from geohot, and the binaries which were released from couple days by MSFT GUY for 05.11.07 baseband on iPhone 3GS, running iOS 4.0 GM. Follow the step by step guide After the jump..




    Here's the description mention in the site:
    Use on Modem Firmware 05.11.07 ONLY!
    V1.2: Support for 4.0 GM. Backwards compatible to 3.1.2/3 as well. V1.1: MyWi tethering fix
    Geohot’s unlock for 3.1.2/3.1.3/4.0GM on the iPhone 3GS (and probably 3G). Please donate at http://blackra1n.com/ if you enjoy.
    With 3.1.3 & 4.0 GM patch (when needed) by msft.guy. Packaged by Pushfix.info
    This is an unofficial release but Geohot HAS given me permission to redistribute blacksn0w. All known issues with WiFi loss and boot loops seem to be fixed.  If it doesn’t work for some reason, you should still get the SpringBoard. This allows you to uninstall if necessary. It is a little slower to boot because of the increased safety of the release. A 3GS boots to cell connection established in about 90 seconds in iOS 4 now (50% slower than 3.1.X).
    Improvements may be made in the future.

    Note: This guide is used to unlock your iPhone 3GS on iOS 4, 05.11.07 baseband using blacksn0w RC2. Also Blacksn0w binaries are a little buggy, and this will result in your phone taking at least 90 seconds on every reboot to catch carrier signals.

    Step 1: First, You will have to Jailbreak your iPhone using PwangeTool, Step-by-Step guide from Here.
    Step 2: Now you can get Blacksn0w RC2 from Cydia,To do this Start "Cydia" on your iPhone then Go to "Manage" tab at the bottom, Now click on "Sources" as shown in the screenshot below:

    Step 3: Click on "Edit" then on "Add", Then you will be promoted to enter a url source type "http://cydia.pushfix.info" then click on "Add Source"
    Step 4: Now Cydia will start Installing your new source, just let it happen!
    Step 5: Now, in Cydia search for "blacksn0w RC2 for iOS 4" and install this App. This App will automatically unlock your Device.
     Step 6: Simply. Restart your Device, and wait at least 90 seconds for your iPhone to get the signal of your carrier.
