TinyUmbrella upgraded with support for iOS 4.1 and other new features

TinyUmbrella, The utility for saving the certificate SHSH , has just been updated with important new features including some of those which we have already spoken this posts . Let's see in detail the changes made with this important upgrade.

The developer failed to implement all the news of which we have spoken, but has nonetheless decided to release the new version as it will be very useful in view of the release of Firmware 4.1, scheduled for this week .
  • Added full support to IOS 4.1;
  • Baseband Protection : performing a restore to 4.1 with TinyUmbrella , the baseband will be preserved and will not be updated to enable users with iPhone locked factory to make the unlock . This feature only applies to iPhone 4, as the upgrade of the baseband is handled differently for this device.
  • The program is now able to capture the appropriate certificates to the device directly from Cydia in a completely automatic , although we have not saved locally, ( you must still have saved on the server Saurik )
  • Edit the hosts file to automatically close the application , so as to direct iTunes to communicate with the server Saurik in subsequent restorations with SHSH saved.
You can download the new version of TinyUmbrella suitable for your operating system from Official Blog.

Update : TinyUmbrella updated ! Version 4.02.04 released !

v4.02.04
  • Supports iOS 4.0.2
These are instructions on how to backup your SHSH blobs using Firmware Umbrella for Windows.

Step One
Download the latest version of Firmware Umbrella from here to your Desktop.

Step Two
Right Click umbrella-4.01.03.exe and Choose Run as administrator from the contextual popup menu.

If you get a Windows Security Alert, make sure both boxes are checked, and hit Allow Access.

Step Three
You will be asked to Connect a Device.

Once you do so Umbrella will detect the type of device and its firmware.

Step Four
Check the Advanced Options box. Confirm the ECID of your device, make sure the correct firmware version is selected, and set the Location to Cydia.

Note: you can only obtain SHSH blobs for the latest firmware version released by Apple.

Step Five
Press the Save My SHSH button.

Once completed you will be notified that it was successful. "You have saved your SHSH locally and the request was sent to CYDIA. This means that CYDIA DOES have your SHSH. Do NOT bug semaphore about the Cydia home page showing this version."

IMPORTANT:

If you are unsuccessful in saving your SHSH blob because Cydia is overloaded then change the Location dropdown to Apple and store it locally.

How to: Save SHSH Blobs (ECID SHSH) of iOS 4 [Windows & Mac]

As I told you that TinyUmbrella has been Updated to support iOS 4 but I didn't post the guide, So Here's a guide to Save SHSH Blob on iOS 4 as you saved it on iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2 but was Using AutoSHSH and Umbrella Firmware. Follow the step by step Guide below..
What's ECID SHSH?
ECID SHSH is a unique signature which is checked against Apple servers whenever you decide to restore the firmware on any of your Device. Once a new firmware is released, Apple stops signing the older firmware, hence making it impossible to restore back to the older firmware from iTunes.
And Why Should I Save SHSH Blobs?
By Using a SHSH blob, you can downgrade or restore back to the older firmware. This is important because if you don’t have your SHSH blob saved, and accidently update to new firmware, you’ll loose your jailbreak and furthermore, you wont be able to downgrade back to older firmware to re-jailbreak your device.
Steps:
Step 1: Download TinyUmbrella V4.00.06 (Mac / Windows / Linux)
Step 2: Make sure you are running iTunes on your Device.
Step 3: Now Connect your Device to Computer via USB
Step 4: Launch TinyUmbrella and Click on Save SHSH, Now your SHSH blob will be saved on Cydia Server by default or on your computer if you have chosen to.
